SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Successful financial and operational management of a nationwide warehousing and distribution program comprising over five million square feet of space in fifteen disbursed locations.
- Oversaw network of 23 remotely located contracting offices for transportation contracting services including local delivery services, nationwide long haul trucking, point to point air service, and similar specialty services.
- Managed and re-engineered a $1.5 billion dollar network of rail, highway, water and commercial air transportation service providers. Directed the conversion process from regulated services to de-regulated services.
- Designed and implemented service improvements and contract enhancements that re-engineered the compensation programs, enabled pay for performance, implemented graduated failure penalties and created needed tracking systems. These efforts led to improved performance and reduced costs.
- Founding father and senior executive of a $500 million network of 22 processing, repair and distribution centers. Led a team of financial, engineering and information systems specialists in the preparation of a business plan and championed the program’s approval and funding. Intricately involved in the program’s rollout, including site selection, facility design, process design, information systems design and selection of third-party suppliers. Designed and implemented a centralized data center and logistics management function that coordinates the activities of this enterprise.

Directed, prepared and presented the operational and financial analysis for a multi-billion dollar material handling network. Developed budget and funding for the same nationwide network of equipment distribution and refurbishing centers; prepared the solicitation requirements and negotiated the operational elements for the program that included twenty three sites and involved multiple contractors. Designed and developed innovative, environmentally friendly, and maintenance free mail transport equipment which received the National Recycling Coalition - Innovative New Product Environmental Award.
General Manager, Contract Transportation – 1981 to 1995
Managed national contract transportation function including air, highway, rail and international ocean services. Developed service standard parameters for each transportation mode, implemented a pay-for-performance bonus system, and negotiated national scope transportation services contracts totaling to over one billion dollars annually. Designed and implemented national data systems for rail and highway transportation services. Coordinated the conversion from regulated air transportation services to de-regulated, negotiated contract services. Served as senior contracting officer with unlimited contracting authority for all modes of contract transportation, including air, international water, inter-modal rail and highway services.
