Stephen Johnsen

Mr. Johnsen has extensive knowledge, expertise, and operational experience in all Postal air and surface networks, including Fed Ex, UPS, and commercial air carriers; Bulk Mail Centers (BMC); and Surface Transportation Centers (STC). He had direct oversight and responsibility to monitor contractor compliance for terminal handling contracts for Postal air and surface networks within his geographical operational area of responsibility.

Mr, Johnson Retired from USPS in May 2007 with 34 years of service; 24 of which were in the logistics field. In his last position, he was Executive Manager, Southwest Area Distribution Networks Office. He was responsible for development and coordination of the Postal air and surface networks within the states of New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. He managed a Transportation Contracts Purchasing Office and an Air and Surface Networks Office and the Southwest Area Surface Transfer Center with a staff of 41 Postal Managers. Responsibilities included coordination of national USPS air and surface alignment with these regional networks.

During his tenure as Executive Manager, he also managed the Postal logistics emergency recovery efforts for Hurricane Katrina in the state of Louisiana in 2005 and assisted and consulted with Military Mail flow setup in Baghdad, Iraq in June 2003.

In a previous assignment as Manager Networks, Western Area, he was responsible for development and coordination of the Postal air and surface networks within13 Western States, where he also coordinated national USPS air and surface alignment with these regional networks.

Since his retirement, Mr. Johnsen has consulted with the Southeast Area Vice President’s operations staff in Memphis Tennessee and has conducted operational mail processing and logistics networks reviews at numerous postal facilities, Air Mail Centers, Processing and Distribution Centers, and Surface Transportation Centers within the states of Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama.
